Contract details page - Consumption

Updated over a week ago

Consumption shows all available consumption data for the utilities covered by the contract (electricity, gas, water, heat, etc.).

This map helps users:

  • to understand consumption patterns

  • View consumption per day, month or billing period

  • to detect trends

  • compare estimates versus actual values

  • gain insight into the basics of consumption billing

Consumption is displayed using graphs, totals and filters.

What you see in the Consumption map

The Consumption map shows all measured or estimated consumption data provided by meters, data platforms or providers.

Units & Measurements

Depending on the service, units may vary.

Each measurement contains:

  • amount (e.g. 24 kWh)

  • start and end time of the measurement period

  • meter identification (serial numbers, channels)

  • measurement source:

    • Actual: real meter reading/consumption measurement

    • Estimated: calculated value with missing positions

Totals & summaries

The graph shows per selected period:

  • Total consumption

  • Consumption per location (if multiple)

  • Consumption per service type (electricity, gas, water)

  • Comparison of actual vs. estimated consumption

If cost display is activated:

  • accuracy indicator (high/medium/low)

How consumption is used

Billing

For contracts with consumption-based billing:

  • the consumption within the billing period used to calculate the invoice

  • actual meter readings applied when available

  • estimated values used until real data comes in

Monitoring & history

You can:

  • view consumption over longer periods

  • compare months

  • identify trends (summer vs. winter, peak hours)

  • detect unexpectedly high/low consumption

Service limits

Some contracts include:

  • included consumption

  • graduated rates

  • thresholds that trigger notifications

This information is processed during invoicing.

Filter options

Period

  • Total – all-time summary

  • Billing Period – grouped by billing cycle

  • Month – monthly totals

  • Day – day view (select start and end date)

Locations

  • select one or more locations

  • combine consumption or view separately

  • legend shows per location

Service types

  • electricity

  • gas

  • water

  • heat

  • other utilities

Graphs & visualizations

Y-axis

  • amount of consumption in the correct unit (kWh, m³, etc.)

X-axis

  • date, month or billing period depending on selected view

Use of color

  • color per service or location

  • lighter colors for estimates

Day view (Area Chart)

  • smooth curve or line

  • hover shows exact value

  • estimated values in lighter shade

All other views (Bar Charts)

  • grouped bars per period

  • color per service or location

  • legend shows details

Navigation and sorting

  • sorting always: old → new

  • filters determine context

  • legend items can be activated/deactivated
    (highlighting one series)

Totals

The legend shows:

  • total consumption

  • per service type

  • per location

Example:
Total:

  • Electricity: 1,000 kWh

Accuracy (if cost display)

  • High – based on real invoicing and real consumption

  • Middle – mix of real and estimated data

  • Low – mainly estimated or old rates

Problem

Solution

No consumption visible

Service may not be active, no meter readings received or data being processed

Partial data only

Missing days are shown as gaps; system processes the rest automatically

Delayed updates

Waiting for new meter readings to become available (daily or weekly sync depending on provider)

Unexpectedly high/low values

Contact provider; meter or data may be incorrect

Overlapping or double meter readings

The system will correct this automatically → contact support if it remains visible

Multiple meters per location

Graph combines them → you can see them separately via filters

Problem

Solution

“No consumption data available”

Select another period or check service status

Graph not loading

Refresh page or try again later

Totals appear incorrect

Check active filters (locations/services)

Recent data is missing

Wait 24–48 hours depending on provider

Cost display not visible

Contact account manager

Estimates are shown

Will be automatically replaced once real data arrives

Values seem unrealistic

Contact energy supplier or support

How often is consumption updated?
Usually daily, depending on meter and provider.

Can I export consumption?
Depends on permissions and feature set. Ask your account manager.

Why do I see estimated consumption?
Because real meter readings have not yet been received.

What is the difference between Consumption and Cost?
Consumption = quantities (kWh, m³).
Costs = financial value based on rates.

Can I compare contracts?
Yes, when you have access to multiple contracts.

How far back can I see consumption?
From the start of the contract / first meter reading.

My consumption seems too high/low – what now?
Check filters → Still not correct? Contact your provider.

Can consumption alerts be set?
Depending on account settings; ask your account manager.

How does consumption work at multiple locations?
Each location has its own measurements; graph can merge everything together.

What happens to data when I move or change my contract?
Historical consumption remains available, new consumption goes to new contract.

  • Consumption – amount of utility used in a given period

  • Unit of Measure (UoM) – unit of consumption (kWh, m³, GJ, ...)

  • Meter – physical device that records consumption

  • Meter Serial Number – unique serial number of meter

  • Production Day – calendar day on which consumption was registered

  • Consumption Period – time period between start and end measurement

  • Reading – measured or calculated amount of consumption

  • Actual Consumption – real meter reading data

  • Estimated Consumption – calculated value with missing data
