Muting rules are used to temporarily suppress alerts for specific types of meter problems on a meter.
Mute rules are designed for situations like maintenance, planned work, or known issues, where notifications are temporarily irrelevant. They reduce noise in the system without affecting data collection or issue logging.
Overview – What does this section show?
The Damping Rules section shows all damping rules created for the selected meter. A distinction is made between:
Active Mute Rules – Rules that are currently suppressing warnings
Expired Mute Rules – Rules whose expiration date has passed
What is visible and which actions are available depends on:
The status of the rule (Active or Expired)
The user's rights
Layout
Active mute rules
Shows all currently active rules. For each rule, the following is displayed:
Issue type
The type of metering issue for which warnings are muted
Period
Start and end date of the damping period
Reason (optional)
Free explanation why warnings are muted

Shows historical rules that are no longer active:
Same information as for active rules
Read-only
No change or cancellation options
Empty status
If no rules exist, the message “No mutation rules found” will be displayed.
The tabs display badges with the number of active and expired rules.

Creating mute rules
Open the meter details page
Go to Mute Rules
Click on the “+ Add icon
Select the problem type you want to mute
Choose the duration:
Day – 24 hours
Week – 7 days (standard)
Month – 30 days
Optionally add a reason
Check the summary
Click Add
Important points to note:
Rules take effect immediately
Only one issue type can be selected per line
A new rule for the same issue type automatically cancels an existing rule
Rules apply only to the current meter
Cancel mute rule
Only possible with active rules
Click the menu (⋯) next to the line
Select Cancel and confirm
Consequences of cancellation:
Alerts are generated immediately
The rule is moved to the Expired Mute Rules tab
The rule cannot be reactivated

What is being dampened?

Measurement Frequency Too Low
When a rule is active:
New issues of this type are marked with the status Muted
No notifications or alerts are sent
Issues remain visible in the system
Data collection continues normally
What is not affected?
Rules for muting:
Stop no data import
Remove no existing issues
Have no influence on other meters
Prevent manual issue creation

What is the maximum duration of a mute rule?
One month.
Will I be notified when a rule expires?
No, check the Active Mute Rules tab yourself.

Yes, via the avatar next to the line.
Do dampening rules work retroactively?
No, only issues that arise after activation are silenced.
Is a reason required when creating a rule?
No, entering a reason is optional.
