Connect Renson OpenMotics for automatic meter readings

Overview

With the Renson OpenMotics integration, Zero Friction can automatically retrieve meter readings from the Renson/OpenMotics cloud.

This means you no longer need to manually export meter data and import it again by CSV before using it for billing.

The integration helps with three things:

  1. Automatic retrieval - Zero Friction retrieves meter readings through the Renson/OpenMotics integration.

  2. Fewer manual steps - You no longer need to perform a monthly CSV export and import for this meter data.

  3. A more reliable billing basis - The retrieved meter data is processed through the normal meter data import flow.

When should you use this integration?

Use this integration when your organisation manages meter readings in Renson/OpenMotics and needs this data in Zero Friction for billing.

  • Your Renson/OpenMotics account must have access to the buildings and meters you want to retrieve readings for.

  • The correct utility type(s) must be selected when setting up the integration.

  • The retrieved meter data then follows the normal checks and processing steps in Zero Friction.

How do you connect Renson OpenMotics?

  1. Go to Configuration > Integrations.

  2. Click the integration card for Renson.

  3. Enter the username and password you use to log in to https://cloud.renson.eu/.

  4. Select the utility type(s) for which you want to retrieve meter readings.

  5. Click Connect to activate the integration.

Important: The integration only works if the Renson/OpenMotics login you use has access to the correct buildings, meters and utility types.

What happens after connecting?

After the integration is activated, Zero Friction can retrieve meter readings from Renson/OpenMotics. This data is then processed as a meter data import, so it can be used later in the billing process.

  • You can replace the manual CSV step with a more automated data flow.

  • The risk of errors caused by export, formatting or import is reduced.

  • The meter data remains traceable within the existing Zero Friction meter data workflow.

Solution

The integration cannot be connected.

Check that the username and password are correct and that you can log in to the Renson/OpenMotics cloud.

Not all meters or buildings are available.

Check whether the Renson/OpenMotics account has access to the correct buildings and meters.

No new meter data appears.

Check whether the correct utility type(s) were selected and whether the meter data is available in Renson/OpenMotics.

FAQ

Does this integration replace all manual CSV imports?
For meter data available through Renson/OpenMotics, the integration can replace the manual export and import step. Other data sources continue to follow their existing flow.

Do I need a Renson/OpenMotics login?
Yes. You need a login for the Renson/OpenMotics cloud with access to the buildings and meters you want to connect.

Is the data billed immediately?
No. The retrieved meter data is first processed through the normal meter data import flow in Zero Friction. It can then be used in the billing process.
