Data retention

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Introduction

Entities within Zero Friction may have a different lifespan, after which their data will be deleted. Unless otherwise stated, the standard retention period for entity data is 5 years. After this period, the data will be deleted. The period is calculated based on the creation date + 5 years.

Note: While data retention limits apply, they may not (yet) be enforced. Even if not enforced, Zero Friction offers no guarantee of availability beyond the defined retention period.

Master data entities

All master data entities have an indefinite retention period, meaning no master data entities are automatically deleted. Examples of master data entities include:

  • Contracts

  • Customers

  • Meters

  • Service locations

Billing entities

All billing entities have an indefinite retention period, with the exception of invoices, which are deleted after 5 years. Invoice PDFs are deleted after 7 years.

Import

All imports have a retention period of 45 days after which the import data (flat files + logs) are deleted.

Measurement data

Service consumption is stored for 5 years. After two years, service consumption with a data frequency higher than daily can be combined into a single daily value. Any metered consumption or measurements are retained for 3 years. After this period, they are deleted.

Integration registration

All webhook logs (processed and unprocessed) + any associated mapping items will be deleted after 65 days.

Communication

All communications (sent emails, PDF sending logs, etc.) are retained for 5 years. This includes flat files.
